William ''Billy'' Ernest Herbert, Sr., age 84, of High Point, previously of Weldon, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015. He was the son of the late William Alfred and Lucille Dozier Herbert.

Billy served his country in the US Air Force. He was a graduate of Wesleyan College, received a Master of Divinity degree from Duke University, and was a member of the Eastern District of North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church serving as minister of several churches in eastern North Carolina. He was retired as Junior Vice President of W.S. Clark and Sons in Tarboro, NC and was also a Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Buck Herbert; his daughters, Pamela H. Gregory and her husband, Mark of Greensboro, Karen H. Mueller and her husband, Thomas of Greensboro, Lori H. Bagwell and her husband, Woody of Winterville; his son, William ''Bill'' Herbert of Portsmouth, VA; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Chuck Barber officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 12:30 PM until service time at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services.
